About ESD

Founded in 1995, Electronic Systems Development (ESD) specializes in the design, development and manufacture of electronic systems for meteorological, weather research aviation and environmental applications.
ESD has supplied technology to weather modification programs worldwide, including radar signal processing and control systems for the modernization and digitization of existing weather radar installations, as well as aircraft tracking and telemetry systems for cloud seeding operations.
The company has also developed a range of environmental monitoring and data acquisition products and sensors including the AquaFox series of environmental data loggers for Agralis, France.
ESD is currently developing and manufacturing next-generation cloud seeding flare firing and control systems for both aircraft and ground-based flare tree installations.
ESD has provided weather related electronic systems and technical solutions to customers and projects across the world, including: South Africa, Chad, Mali, Libya, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, USA, Canada, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Jordan, India and Thailand.

Farren Hiscutt, Director of ESD has been in the field of weather research and weather modification for over 45 years. Starting as an electronics technician in 1981 at the South African Weather Modification program based in Bethlehem. Farren has a passion for flying and is the South African Agent for the Flying Legend Tucano-R aircraft.
